Car radiation levels are hitting an all time high as the amount of technology in cars increases. DVD players, dashboard computers, GPS tracking and bluetooth technology have turned the average car into an EMF hazard.

According to a recent study, modern cars emit as much as eight times more electromagnetic radiation (EMR) than an average computer monitor.

Electric powered hybrid cars, like their name says, are powered in part by an electric battery whose high levels of EMF emissions have come under scrutiny in recent months as having an adverse effect on the health of the passengers, especially kids.

 

Effects of Automobile EMF Exposure

This is the first time in the history of cars that car radiation levels have hit these types of highs. Many people are feeling the effects while driving.

Recent studies at Scripps Clinic & Research Foundation in La Jolla, California found that high levels of electromagnetic radiation (EMRs) from automobiles caused drivers to get sleepy while driving. Drivers exposed to high levels of car radiation fell asleep 52 minutes faster than drivers who were not exposed to such high levels of radiation.

Studies have shown that cell phone radiation is amplified when used inside a car. This is due to the car's metal frame trapping the radiation inside the car and not allowing it to dissipate.

According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, you are four times more likely to have an accident if you use a mobile phone while driving due to the cell phone radiation creating 'brain fog'.

 

Cell Phone Towers While On the Road

The number of Cell Phone Towers that dot highways has risen exponentially in the past few years. The wireless microwave radiation being emitted from the cell towers enters your car and gets trapped by the metal frame.

Exposure to wireless microwave radiation has been linked to cancer, childhood leukemia, alzheimers, ADD, autism, autoimmune illnesses, birth defects and miscarriages.

Although convenient, GPS Tracking and Bluetooth technology utilize the same microwave radiation as cell towers. Both increase the wireless radiation in your car.

 

Hybrid Car Radiation

Many hybrid cars, including some models from Volvo and a model from Honda, have been found to exceed the current EMF safety levels. Toyota, who manufactures the hybrid car Prius, has refused to divulge EMF readings for the car to owners who have expressed safety concerns regarding EMF exposure.

Hybrid cars are partly powered by a battery, which is usually in the rear of the car. In most hybrid cars, there is a cable that runs underneath the driver's seat. This cable carries high-voltage direct current from the battery pack in the rear of the car to the motor in the front.

Truck drivers who sit on top of a mess of wires carrying similar voltage have been found to have high rates of kidney cancer.

To date, there have been no studies done on the long-term effects of hybrid car radiation on passengers.
