Fluorescent lights have been commonly used in factories, offices, supermarkets and classrooms due to their cost effectiveness. In recent years, fluorescent, specifically incandescent bulbs, have been promoted as environmental energy saving devices with little regard to the inherent radiation dangers associated with their use.

Fluorescent Light Radiation

The quality of lighting that we expose our bodies to is just as important as the quality of air we breathe or the water we drink. Many people intuitively feel that fluorescent lighting is 'bad' for them without knowing why. Fluorescent lights have been called 'bad' for health and 'dangerous' to the body due to high levels of radiation. Fluorescent tubing emits the same type of radiation as cathode ray tube monitors as well as low levels of microwave radiation.

Fluorescent Lighting & Mercury

Fluorescent lights contain high levels of mercury and lead. If a fluorescent lamp is broken, mercury can contaminate the surrounding environment. According to California Assembly Bill 1109 (2007), "Most fluorescent lighting products contain hazardous levels of mercury...and lead."

In offices, many employees subjected to fluorescent lighting develop eyestrain, fatigue and headaches. In addition to causing headaches and vision problems, fluorescent lights are listed as problematic for individuals with epilepsy, lupus,chronic fatigue syndrome, and vertigo.

Fluorescent Light vs. Full Spectrum

The wavelength pattern of fluorescent light is vastly different than that of full spectrum (sun) light. The imbalance of frequencies in fluorescent lighting has the same adverse effect on people as an imbalance of nutrients.

Fluorescent LIght Health Effects

Photobiologist John Ott has done studies that clearly demonstrated the adverse effects of Fluorescent light on behavior and academic performance in the classroom. Studies where fluorescent lighting was replaced with full-spectrum lights in the classroom have shown improved general attendance and behavior, as well as enhanced academic concentration performance.

Studies have shown that male laboratory rats kept under fluorescent lighting will cannibalize their newborn rats. When fluorescent lights are replaced with full-spectrum bulbs, the male rat will nurture his young.

Fluorescent Lighting Effects on Foods

Fluorescent lighting in retail dairy display cases induces vitamin A degradation and 'light-oxidized' flavor defects in milk products packaged in light-transmissible containers. By sitting in a fluorescent lighted dairy case for just one day, milk can lose up to 70% of its vitamin A and riboflavin.

How to Neutralize Fluorescent Light Radiation

How does the Clearfield Plate work?

How do I use the Clearfield Plate?

The Clearfield Plate can be hung on a wall (hanging hardware included) or placed on a plate stand. It should be placed on the ground floor of a multi-level space for optimal clearing. The Clearfield Plate clears in a 360° radius and can be place in either end of the home or in the center and is also a powerful Feng Shui cure when placed in an area of the Baqua that needs enhancing. The Clearfield Plate can be used outdoors and is great for farms and Beekeeping. (If used outdoors it does need to be protected from the elements.)
